We are currently recruiting for Functional Assessors in Lewes, offering excellent work-life balance, structured training and long-term career progression — all while continuing to make a meaningful difference to people's lives.
Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm — no nights, weekends or bank holidays.
The Roles PIP Functional Assessor – 3 detailed reports per day
Assess how an individual's physical and/or mental health conditions affect their ability to carry out everyday activities and mobility.
WCA Functional Assessor – 5–6 reports per day
Assess how an individual's health conditions affect their functional ability and capacity for work and work-related activity.
What You'll Be Doing:
Conduct telephone and face-to-face assessments.
Take detailed clinical histories and ask structured questions.
Assess the impact of physical, mental and cognitive health conditions.
Review medical evidence, health questionnaires and supporting information.
Apply your clinical reasoning and professional judgement.
Produce accurate, objective and evidence-based reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The DWP makes the final decision — your role is to provide an objective, evidence-based assessment.
Salary & Benefits:
PIP: £45,000 increasing to £47,000 after 12 months
WCA: £48,000 increasing to £49,000 after 12 months
5% bonus upon successful approval following training
Up to 10% annual performance and quality bonus
Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
No nights, weekends or bank holidays

25 days annual leave + bank holidays

You'll complete a comprehensive 12-week fully paid training programme, covering:
PIP and WCA assessment methodology
DWP guidelines and requirements
Clinical assessment techniques
Evidence evaluation
Clinical reasoning
Report writing
Functional assessment You'll also receive ongoing support as you transition from your clinical role into your new career.

A minimum of 1 year's post-registration clinical experience
Active professional registration
Relevant adult clinical experience
Strong communication and assessment skills
Good IT and typing skills
